Dave Mustaine is one of the most influential metal guitarists of all time, founder and soul of Megadeth and responsible for riffs that have shaped generations of players. The fact that a man like Mustaine now has a signature guitar with Gibson speaks volumes about the breadth of his influence. The Dave Mustaine Songwriter was designed in collaboration with Dave himself and combines the acoustic qualities of the Gibson Songwriter family with the demands of a metal guitarist: a cutaway for access to the high frets, a slightly thinner walnut body for playing comfort and the first ever 24-fret neck profile on a Gibson acoustic guitar.

The Sitka Spruce top on walnut back and sides delivers a tone that is brighter and tighter than the classic mahogany combination, with an attack articulate enough for the complex chords and melodic lines that characterize Mustaine's playing. The Advanced X-brace supports the top and gives it the dynamic response needed for both soft playing and aggressive rhythm parts. The higher output LR Baggs VTC pickup ensures that this tone remains intact on stage.

The mahogany neck has an Advanced Response profile with an ebony fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl teeth-inlays and 24 frets over a 16-inch radius and 24.75-inch scale length. The ebony Traditional Belly-Up bridge, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and TUSQ nut, saddle and bridge pins complete an instrument that is as idiosyncratic as the man it was built for. Vic Rattlehead artwork on the pickguard and a MOP headstock inlay complete the signature. Supplied in a custom hardshell case.
