Murphy Lab Light Aged, Certificate of Authenticity

The Hummingbird from its birth year: precisely recreated, with the character that only time provides

The Gibson Hummingbird was introduced in 1960 and immediately secured a permanent place in acoustic guitar history. Its iconic hummingbird motif on the headstock, embroidered pickguard, and Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish made it instantly recognizable. Singer-songwriters, folk, and rock musicians naturally gravitated towards it. This Murphy Lab 1960 reissue reproduces that original as accurately as possible and adds something only the Murphy Lab can deliver: decades of aging, applied by hand.

The thermally aged red spruce top resonates with an openness and richness that new guitars lack. The mahogany back and sides give the instrument its typical warmth and body, and the Murphy Lab Light Aging on the nitrocellulose lacquer makes the Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish appear deeper and more authentic than any new instrument. This is a Hummingbird that sounds as if it has been played for years, even though it comes fresh out of its case.

The mahogany neck features a Rounded profile with a rosewood fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl parallelogram inlays, and 20 frets across a 24.75-inch scale length. The Traditional Belly-Up rosewood bridge, Gotoh tuners with Keystone buttons, and bone nut and saddle complete an instrument that is historically accurate in every detail. Delivered with a period-correct hardshell case, Gibson Accessory Kit, and Certificate of Authenticity.
