The SJ-200 with rosewood back and sides: the King of the Flat-Tops in its richest and most complex form
The Gibson SJ-200 Standard Rosewood combines unmistakable Super Jumbo projection with a tonewood combination that adds an extra dimension to the sound. Where the classic SJ-200 uses maple for the back and sides, rosewood adds brilliance, depth, and harmonic complexity to the already impressive SJ-200 character. The Sitka Spruce top on solid rosewood delivers a tone that is broad, layered, and dynamic, with a defined bass and high registers that remain clear and articulate. The LR Baggs Anthem pickup ensures that all of this is fully showcased when amplified.
The iconic Two Bar SJ-200 Moustache bridge in rosewood, the Mother-of-Pearl Graduated Crown inlays, and the Grover Imperial tuners give this instrument the visual richness that matches the Rosewood Burst finish. The TUSQ nut, saddle, and bridge pins ensure consistent intonation and optimal transfer across all strings.
The mahogany neck has a Round profile with a rosewood fretboard and 20 frets over a 25.5-inch scale length. The nitrocellulose Rosewood Burst finish with multi-ply binding on the top, back, fretboard, and headstock completes an instrument that combines the tonal qualities of the SJ-200 with the added sonic richness of rosewood. Delivered with a Gibson hardshell case.
