This Lakewood C-15 Custom combines mahogany and a short scale length in an intimate concert guitar

The Lakewood C-15 Custom opts for an unconventional combination: a concert body with pommelle mahogany for both the top and the back and sides, finished in Smokey Burst. The open-pore satin finish keeps the overall look understated, while the choice of wood gives this acoustic guitar a distinctive character. This example bears serial number 36800. With a neck joint at the twelfth fret and a slotted headstock, it has a classic appearance without limiting the design to a single playing style.

Mahogany invites a warm, midrange-focused sound, where attack and cohesion between the notes take center stage. This makes this combination interesting for fingerstyle, melodic playing, and accompaniment where you are looking not only for volume, but especially for character. The 630 mm scale length provides less string tension than a longer scale length when using comparable strings and tuning. Together with the concert format, this creates an accessible playing experience. The V-profile also offers a clearly noticeable neck shape for players who like to have a bit of grip under their thumb.

The cedar neck has a nut width of 44 mm and a thickness that ranges from 21 to 23 mm. The Indian rosewood fretboard is equipped with small mother-of-pearl dots. The bridge is also made of Indian rosewood, with a bone nut and bone saddle. Black Lakewood ProTune III tuners with rosewood buttons match the Smokey Burst finish. A slim abalone rosette, wooden purfling, and rosewood bridge pins with abalone dots provide subtle accents. The guitar is equipped with D'Addario XS Phosphor Bronze .012–.053 strings and comes with a Lakewood gig bag.

For those looking for a compact acoustic guitar with a recognizable neck shape and a distinctive mahogany character, this C-15 Custom is a great candidate to experience for yourself.
