2005 Rickenbacker 4003, Blue Boy in excellent condition
The Rickenbacker 4003 Blue Boy (2005) is a rare and sought-after bass guitar, especially due to its unique “Color of the Year” (COY) finish. Although Blue Boy was officially the color of the year in 2004, production for orders in this color continued until 2005, making specimens from that year relatively scarce.
The finish is in very good condition, but has a small ding on the top of the body (see photo). Additionally, there are minor signs of use here and there, but nothing significant. The neck is straight and the truss rods function as they should. The frets are in excellent condition with virtually no visible wear.
The Rickenbacker 4003 is known for its long sustain, clear high-end attack, and powerful bass foundation. It also stands out with its iconic, elegantly shaped body, finished with subtle binding and the recognizable triangular fretboard inlays. With features such as a stereo output, neck-through-body construction, dual truss rods, and high-output single-coil pickups, this bass offers a wide tonal range with great clarity and definition.
