You don't see a Silver Sky in Carpathian Grey every day. This Defender Limited Edition is a limited run of the SE Silver Sky, the model that John Mayer developed together with Paul Reed Smith and which has since earned its own place among the classics. The sleek, matte grey finish with the rosewood fretboard and the renowned bird inlays make it an instant eye-catcher, but above all, it is a guitar that you'll want to take right off the wall and never put down. For those looking for their first serious electric guitar, or moving up from an entry-level model, this is a wonderful starting point.

The sound is classic and clear. The three single-coils provide that typical crystal-clear attack with plenty of definition, from sparkling clean in the neck position to those sharp, nasal middle positions that funk and blues thrive on. Add some overdrive, and the guitar continues to sound nicely open without getting muddy. The playing experience is smooth: the 635 JM neck profile feels comfortable and full in the hand, and with the 8.5-inch radius, both chords and bends feel great under the fingers.

Technically, everything is in its place. The body is made of poplar, the neck of maple with a 22-fret rosewood fretboard with bird inlays. The three 635 JM "S" single-coil pickups are controlled via a volume knob and two tone controls, allowing you to switch quickly between sharp and warm. The scale length is 25.5 inches, the bridge is a 2-point steel tremolo for stable vibrato, and the vintage-style tuners hold the tuning nicely. The guitar comes in a gig bag, so you can take it straight to lessons or rehearsals.
