The Custom Shop Esquire that Fender had specially built for NAMM 2005
One pickup, one goal: the purest Telecaster tone Fender's Custom Shop can deliver. This 2005 Fender Custom Shop '59 Esquire Relic was specially made for the NAMM show, making it one of the rarest Custom Shop Esquires you can find. At only 2.8 kg, it is also exceptionally light for an ash-body guitar.
The '59 Relic treatment gives this Esquire the character of a guitar that has been on stage for decades, but the frets show hardly any wear and the neck plays like new. A fresh set of 10-46 strings, a perfectly working truss rod, and a flawless setup make it ready to play instantly. The gold-on-gold appearance — aged gold tuners, gold hardware on the 3-saddle Telecaster bridge — gives it a timeless elegance rarely seen on other Esquires.
The body is constructed from ash with a maple neck and maple fretboard, 21 frets, and dot inlays. The single Esquire bridge pickup delivers that characteristic, cutting Tele tone with plenty of attack and sustain. Controls are minimalistic: volume and tone, nothing more is needed. Delivered with the original hardcase. A collector's item and a guitar to play.
