The Martin Custom Shop Dreadnought That Proves Rare Woods Make All the Difference
This is no catalog guitar. The Martin Custom Shop D 14-Fret Sinker Mahogany was custom-built with a selection of tonewoods you won't find on a standard Martin. Sinker Mahogany for the back and sides, a VTS Premium Sitka Spruce top with Aging Toner, a Black Ebony fretboard. Every component was deliberately chosen for tone, appearance, and durability. This particular example is in pristine condition.
Sinker Mahogany is one of the most coveted tonewoods in guitar building. It refers to mahogany that has been submerged underwater for decades, making it exceptionally stable and resonant. Combined with the VTS-treated Sitka Spruce top, which mimics the tonal profile of a played-in vintage guitar, this Dreadnought immediately sounds open and layered. Warm and full in the bass, with a clear, articulate midrange that serves both fingerpickers and flatpickers equally well. The Scalloped X-brace enhances the dynamic response and gives the tone extra air.
The neck is made of Genuine Mahogany with a Modified Low Oval profile, comfortable for long playing sessions. The Black Ebony fretboard with Old Style 18 inlays has 20 frets. The Grover Nickel Vintage Button tuners tune smoothly and keep the tuning stable. The construction is a classic Dovetail Neck Joint, the bridge a Modern Belly. Comes with a hardshell case. A Custom Shop Martin in pristine condition is rare. This is your chance.
