The Gibson '57 Classic Underwound was specially developed for guitarists seeking a brighter, more articulate tone, particularly in the neck position. With fewer windings than the standard '57 Classic, this humbucker delivers a more open and transparent sound, ideal for darker-sounding guitars or players who want more definition. The pickup is built on the same foundation as the original Patent Applied For humbucker, featuring alnico 2 magnets, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and vintage two-conductor braided wiring. Balanced coils provide a full, warm tone with excellent hum cancellation, while the potted construction eliminates microphonic feedback. The '57 Classic Underwound pairs excellently with the regular '57 Classic in the bridge position and fits any guitar with standard humbucker routing.
