Brian Welch's 7-string weapon: Evertune stability meets DiMarzio aggression
The Ibanez K7YANG is the official signature guitar of Brian "Head" Welch of Korn. This instrument is not built for compromise: every spec is tailored to the demanding playing style and characteristic heavy sound of one of the most influential guitarists in modern metal.
The K7YANG's sound is driven by two DiMarzio Blaze pickups, the classic choice for high-output 7-string playing. They deliver a dark, defined character with enough bite for the heaviest riffs, and remain clear and articulate even with a distorted signal. The Nyatoh body contributes to a warm, full tonal foundation, while the Maple/Walnut neck ensures tightness and sustain. With 24 frets on a Rosewood fretboard and a 25.5" scale length, you have the full range for dropped tunings and the wide dynamics that 7-string playing demands.
The absolute trump card of the K7YANG is the Evertune bridge: a mechanical self-tuning system that keeps your guitar permanently in tune, regardless of temperature, humidity or playing intensity. Combined with the lightning-fast Wizard II-7 neck (5-piece), K-7 Special fretboard inlays and Gotoh tuners, this is an instrument that is ready for immediate use on any stage and in any studio. The K7YANG is finished in white and has simple but effective electronics: volume and a 3-way switch, that's all you need.
