The Martin D-28 Golden Era gives the classic dreadnought more room to resonate
The iconic D-28 voice gets a refreshed acoustic foundation in this Golden Era Refresh edition. This Martin from the Standard Series combines the familiar dreadnought shape with Golden Era scalloped, forward-shifted X-bracing. This highlights not only its classic character but also the way the top responds to your playing. The solid Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides form a combination that will immediately appeal to lovers of rich acoustic tones. Built in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this is a guitar for players who like to take the time to explore dynamics, attack, and tone.
The D-28 offers a solid bass foundation, clear high notes, and a rich spectrum of overtones. Strummed chords have width and sustain, while flatpicking benefits from clear notes with a full background. Fingerstyle players can also let the low strings provide support without losing focus on the melody. The Golden Era scalloped bracing is a major difference from the older Re-Imagined edition: the intricately carved braces give the top greater freedom of movement. This dreadnought invites you to vary your playing, from understated accompaniment to parts that engage the full resonance of the body.
The selected hardwood neck is attached to the body with a dovetail joint. The ebony fretboard has 20 frets and dot inlays, while the 25.4-inch scale length retains the familiar long-scale feel of the D-28. The open-gear tuners complement its classic character. This edition has no cutaway or built-in pickup, keeping the acoustic sound and your own playing technique at the forefront. The aged-tone top, antique white accents, and faux tortoiseshell pickguard enhance its vintage-inspired appearance. A Martin hard case is included for transport and storage.
Want to experience how a familiar rosewood dreadnought responds to the Golden Era redesign? Give this D-28 the time to reveal its own voice beneath your fingers.
